Pittwater | Rest

rest and solidarity in Pittwater (NSW) 📍

good folks

Join Pittwater Eco Adventures and I for rest, great food, chats around the fire-pit and optional outdoorsy things from 29 August 2024 at Pittwater YHA in the Eora Nation. We’ll have the place to ourselves - overlooking beautiful Morning Bay. 🌞

We deserve solidarity and rest.

here’s the key information 🔑

If you decide to join us we’ll share extra info closer to the time on what to pack and expect. This retreat is invitation only so please don’t share it on. Ask any questions on ka@beyondstickynotes. This is a first - we’ll learn things and I welcome your feedback before, during and after.

  • This is a chance for us to rest - whatever that means to you. You can take part in as many fireside chats (or not) and as many outdoorsy things (or not). You choose. We’ll have some designated alone/time-out from social things spaces.

  • Numbers are strictly limited to 14 people. And, people who have been working in change/social impact for a while. Many of us will likely know each other. Most of us are from NSW, some from Victoria and maybe Queensland, too. With your consent we’ll share who is coming beforehand.

  • 3 nights and 4 days starting Thursday 29 August 2024 and finishing Sunday.

  • Exclusive use of the whole place
Daily coffee (if you’re a coffee goblin you can buy extra coffees)
3 x per day high-quality meals (meat, vege or vegan)
    A cheeseboard on arrival
Use of paddle boards and kayaks
Shared accomodation with one other person (more on this below).
    A yoga class

Travel on the ferry isn’t included or parking at Church Point (where the ferry leaves from). We don’t provide alcohol but you’re welcome to bring your own.

  • $750 all-inclusive per person to cover costs. I’m not making money as I’m here to rest too. I’ve tried to keep the price accessible while having good food and coffee, too.

Pay $375 + GST to save your place. Then, pay the remaining balance ($375 + GST) by August. Or, pay all at once (your choice).

Airport transfers are $40-$50 each way.

  • Pittwater is about an hour’s drive from Sydney CBD. You can also catch public transport (more on that). You can’t drive all the way to the YHA, it’s only accessible by a short ferry ride or water taxi from Church Point Ferry Wharf. Cars can be left at the Ferry terminal for a cost or for free on Baker St. Baker St is about a 10-15 minute walk. There’s a few steps but we promise it’s worth it.

Once you’re on the ferry here’s some detailed information on getting there.

KA will be on hand by mobile to answer questions or meet you once you’ve arrived off the ferry.

  • When you get off the ferry there is a short walk up the hill with your bags. We recommend bags you can carry on your back, if possible. You can take your time and there’s motorised wheelbarrows available. As there’s no vehicles allowed in the national park we can’t offer a car to take you or your bags up the hill. We promise the walk is worth it !

  • Arrive on Thursday afternoon from 3 pm. We’ll move at a slow pace on Thursday night - eat some good food and sit around the fire.

On the next few days we’ll start slowly - with breakfast and coffee and options for morning walks, swims and paddle boarding/kayaking (wind dependent) for folks who want that. We’ll have shared lunches. The afternoons are yours with optional outdoor activities. Then, we’ll share a meal in the evening. Rinse and repeat.

On Saturday afternoon we’ll have an optional yoga class.

On the final day we’ll have breakfast, and say goodbye around midday with lunch.

  • Accomodation is shared and you’ll be sharing with one other person. Provided the group consents we’ll let you know who else is coming so you can see who you might like to/feel comfortable with sharing. Read more about the rooms here: https://www.yha.com.au/hostels/nsw/sydney-surrounds/pittwater/

All bathrooms and showers are all genders.

  • You commit to being a decent human around others and caring for yourself. You also commit to the terms of use for our group booking which include:

    x No illegal drugs
x If you break something at the accomodation, you pay for it
    x No getting super boozy
    x No children
x No blocking fire exits or fire equipment

  • Give us 21 days notice and we’ll refund you 50% less any payment processing fees. Cancel 14 days before and we’ll refund you 25% to cover our sunk costs. No refunds less than 14 days notice.

  • The YHA is set in nature which means there are some creatures about. Expect wallabies, a few friendly possums and goannas, cheeky cockatoos and a few spiders (mostly hiding).

I’m in ! How do I register ?

Once you’ve read the information above and let KA know if you have any questions please register using the form below. We’ll then send you a link to pay your deposit in early July. This will hold your place and fund our group booking.
